There was no way that Cole could keep up with Hunter today, he was just wired. After this post we’ll have to hose him down........ The forest was very wet today.

We came across three other dogs today, really well behaved. Snapped this shot, thanks for the photo!

I noticed today as I was posting that my dog always looks dirty. I just won’t to assure everyone that he does start the walk clean. He just has a supernatural ability to find every little patch and puddle along the way.

This side shot really shows his size, look at those “Kankles”  ie – fat ankles. In all fairness Hunter really is a big Lab. So maybe its ok that he looks a little rolly. What do you think?

Graffiti dog

Had a long walk today; Hunter got very dirty! So, as I write this posting he’s outside drying off. We were heading onto another trail when Hunter spotted this very playful Black Lab. I tried to get a good shot but they were just too fast. Later we stopped at the reservoir and shot a few portraits against the graffiti. For those of you into photography, I placed an umbrella to camera left and shot at 100iso  f/4   1/125 (approx -2 ambient)

 

It's a dogs life

Quite day in the neighbourhood today; we walked around and saw no one, not a sole! Oh well, our walk was nice, we returned to the house just before the rain started. Here are a couple photos of hunter shot with an extreme wide lens. The lens was about 3cm from his snout, I had to clean it a number of times because he keep licking it!

Up on the trails today; this old stump is from a giant that would have been logged 100 or more years ago. Hunter always jumps up on it when we go by; like a perch he sits on it and surveys the forest.

Later we met up with this little dog just as it started to snow.

Winter shadows

I’ve always loved long shadows; I think the graphic shapes always add interest to photos.  Hunter probable doesn’t notice..... Or maybe he does? He seemed to know to sit in the shadow so that his coat would expose evenly.

On today's walk we meet up with a wonderful lady and her little guy. Thanks for the photo! After a little play time Hunter as usual headed straight for the nearest body of water which in this case was a swamp. He stopped to pose for a photo then he was off down the trail his tail high in the air. Can a dog smell like a swamp....... yes it can.

Just a short walk in the sun today. This shot shows a very dirty halti, it’s the only way that Hunter will walk with a leash. Without it he would use his robust size to drag me around.   

Very wet day today and last night it rained and rained. That’s ok, we don’t mind but It does make for a smelly dog. We walked through the forest out to the grave yard, didn’t encounter anyone.  Not much to report on this our second day.

Frankly I’m concerned so in an effort to help him loss weight I have started this blog. I will try and post a new photo each day so that we all can see his progress. His current weight is 110 lbs at age 6. Wish us luck!
